Pound4Pound vs. Pound4Pound ?

The sports world is licking their chops to see the best vs. the best, there can only be one number one!  If I stop right there and don’t continue another sentence even the casual  sports fan will know who I am referring to. Yes, you guessed Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs Manny “Pacman” Pacquaio.  Money  is currently 47-0 (26 Ko’s) while Pac is 57-5  (38 Ko’s). Pacman has reeled off three straight wins since his devastating KO loss to Juan Manuel Marques against top contenders Rios, Bradley (previous loss SD) and Algeri. Floyd on the other hand has an unblemished record.  Many believe the only competitive fight of his career was his first bout with the hard hitting Marcos Maidana. In their rematch Floyd dominated the fight winning an easy 12 round unamimous decision.

So what now? Social media and the internet has been exploding for years hoping for this fight.  In the past both teams have had disagreements in regards to Olympic style drug testing and purse splits. However, the fight seems more ripe than ever. There are reports that a group out of the United Arab Emirates has offered a guaranteed purse totaling more than 200 million dollars.  Pacman has been calling Floyd out for years, but since his upset loss to Marquez, Floyd down plays the big fight and constantly mocks Manny.

If Floyd decides to fight Manny next he will certainly make the most amount of money any boxer or athlete has ever made for a single event. Floyd’s career earnings have been reported to exceed 420 million dollar making him the highest paid athlete in sports.  “This is a fight that needs to happen, if Floyd does not accept the fight he will be labeled as a fighter that refused to fight the best. He needs this fight for his legacy.” stated, boxing manager Steven Heid.

Sources have told me this fight is in negotiation and will most likely happen in May on Showtime. If this is true, this will go down as a historic event that can and will be compared to fights such as The Ali vs Frazier, “Rumble In The Jungle.”  At a time when boxing is struggling and losing viewers to other sporting events such as MMA, if this fight should happen it will certainly give the sport a much needed shot in the arm.

Terrence Crawford continues to shine!

Undefeated WBO lightweight champion Terrence Crawford 25-0 (17k Ko’s)  defended his belt a few moments ago with a 12 round boxing clinic against the always very tough and durable Ray Beltran. Beltran who is Manny Pacquaio’s main sparring partner came into the fight 29-6  (17 Ko’s), but certainly earned his shot at the title after many believed he was robbed last year when he went to the U.K. to fight Ricky Burns. Beltran was handed a draw in a fight most every boxing fan believe he won hands down. In that contest he battered Burns from pillar to post even breaking his jaw in the second round and dropping him hard in the eighth

In March of 2014 Terrence Crawford made the trip over the pond to the United Kingdom and handed Burns his third career loss by way of unanimous decision, in the meantime taking his strap back home to Omaha, Nebraska. Most sport fans these days know Omaha from Peyton Manning constantly yelling it at the line of scrimmage. However, there is certainly a new face to be associated with Omaha and his name is Terrence Crawford.  Century Link Stadium was packed with 11,000+ screaming fans with one special fan in attendance Mr. Omaha himself, Warren Buffet. However, Mr. Buffet who is a very knowledgeable fan of sport said, “Terrence is the new face of Omaha!”

Crawford dominated from the first round and swept all there scorecards 119-109,120-108, 119-109. Beltran came to fight and had his moments, but Crawford was just to much to handle.  Crawford dominated the fight with a sledge hammer like jab and switched to southpaw in round two confusing and frustrating Beltran. Beltran landed a few solid hard chopping punches in several rounds, but Crawford shook them off with his iron chin and came right back every time with dazzling shots that hurt Beltran.

Crawford with less than 100 amateur fights was a stand out amateur boxer beating current world champions Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia.  The hardcore boxing fans are buzzing about Crawford and already throwing his name around in the pound4pound list. Once the mainstream fan catches on, you will certainly see some big fights and this kid has the tools to make history.

Pound4Pound sponsors Caleb "The Bull" Trumbull

Pound4Pound clothing and accessories has become an official sponsor of MMA prospect Caleb “The Bull” Trumbull. Caleb is 22 years old, 170 pounds and fights out of The Training Compound in Battle Creek, Michigan. Caleb is a well rounded fighter and is comfortable in the cage wherever the fight may go. He is confident in his fight striking, grappling and clinch work. Caleb is a straight forward guy and tells it how it is.  In an interview he once said his most memorable moment in MMA was a loss in the amateurs which was for the TWC Welterweight Title. The Bull had trained three months for one opponent, however he backed out for unknown reasons. Caleb decided to accept another fight against a more experienced fighter who outweighed him by 15 pounds.  Though Caleb came up short and dropped a decision, he walked away with a morale victory and unleashed his inner warrior.  “After that fight I knew I could hang with anyone, it is a feeling I can’t describe. At that moment, I knew it was time to turn pro.” said Caleb. The MMA world is buzzing about Caleb who had an impressive amateur record and expects big things from him in the future.

“Pound4Pound is excited to have Caleb on board and represent our brand,” said Founder and CEO, Steven Heid “This kid wouldn’t take no for an answer, he reached out to me on social media the week we launched our website and told me he loved our products and had to be associated with the brand.  I was still working on the sportswear and fitness line among a million other things.  The more I spoke to Caleb the more I started to like him and what he represented.  Caleb is a stand up kid who is following and literally fighting for his dream. What I find as impressive as his fighting skills is how he conducts himself outside the cage.  Caleb is associated with Redemption Martial Arts which is looking to put the “Lights Out on Bullying.” RMA foundation is a non-profit organization committed to anti-bullying and awareness. RMA rely on financial generosity to help accomplish there mission.  You can donate at www.redemptionmartialarts.com.  Caleb is a psychology major and speaks about the damage bullying can do on an individual physically, psychologically and emotionally. If you don’t love a kid with this type of attitude, than your not a fan of life”

Caleb is looking to get back into the cage in early January  and stamp his mark on the MMA world. The Bulls  next fight will be announced shortly, so be sure check back frequently for updates at www.pound4poundwear.com.
