Thoroughbred's pound4pound king!

So which horse is really the pound4pound greatest thoroughbred of all time?

We have compiled a list of horses which are no doubt the greatest horses of all time. However, only 1 can be the pound4pound king! American Pharoah Secretariat, Man O’ War, Seabiscuit, Phar Lap, Black Caviar, Ruffian, Frankel, Zenyatta, Citation, Seattle Slew.

American Pharoah went wire to wire in the Belmont Stakes making him the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years. Not since Affirmed crossed the wire in 1978 had this been done. He was a 2 time grade 1 winner of the Del Mar Furturity. Triple digit beyers in his 7 stake starts which were all wins. American Phorah estimated value in this day and age of racing is estimated to be at 50 million dollars. A sure pound4pound great!

Secretariat is the fastest horse on dirt from 1 3/16 to 1 5/8 miles in history. He won all 16 races by a landslide, never even having a photo finish. Most call Secretariat the Pound4Pound greatest horse of all time.

Man O’ War, Also known as “Big Red” Only career loss came when the starter opened the gates before the horse was in position. In 2006, Big Red was voted the greatest horse to ever live. Pound4Pound has been used in the same sentence as “Big Red”

Seabiscuit is the most undersized horse and was often asked to race carrying weight. That being said, he beat War Admiral by 4 lengths. A huge fan favorite and even had a movie produced his name. Most know the name but those who were lucky enough to see him race call him a Pound4Pound great.

Phar Lap Won 32 of 35 races including The Melbourne Cup which is Australia’s biggest race. Won 2 cox plates and holds a 14 race winning streak. Sadly, this horse was poisoned by American mobsters. This pound4pound contender unfortunately never had the chance to show the world how great he really was.

Black Caviar is known as the fastest sprinter ever. Black Caviar was never beaten and had tremendous cruising speed. A true master at 6 furlongs. For sure pound4pound great at a short distance.

Ruffian was certainly a pound4pound contender until she snapped her ankle at the starting gate after banging her left shoulder. After 8 hours of trying to save her life she was put to rest. Her final resting place is at Belmont Park in the infield with her nose pointed at the finish line.

Frankel was known as the sure shot at the track if there is ever is such a thing. He was unbeaten in 11 races and won most going away. His specialty was 7-8 furlongs and his split times were even faster than Secretariat. A sure poundpound contender.

Zenyatta won every race except for one. She won the Breeders Cup Classic at the ripe age of 5 against the boys! Pound4Pound greatest? Some say she is.

Citation was 27 for 29 as a 3 year old. Won the Jersey Stakes by 11 lengths in the midst of the Triple Crown. Easily blew away the field in the Pimlico Stake. In 1948 he won the Triple Crown. Surely is on the pound4pound list, maybe even #1!

Seattle Slew became the 10th Triple Crown winner and the 1st undefeated. Came back from a very serious injury to defeat Affirmed. Pound4Pound contender for certain!

So folks, there you have it! Since there can only be 1, #1 we at Pound4PoundWear are going to go with Secretariat! We would like to here your thoughts and comments in the below section.

Lennox Allen impresses, now 18-0 (11 Ko's)

Pound4Pound Wear sponsored fighter Lennox  “2 Sharpe” Allen improved to 18-0 (11 Ko’s) knocking out Kojo Issah 14-2-1 (7 Ko’s) in impressive fashion last night at B.B. King in Times Square, NYC.  Kojo had an impressive record entering the fight with only one loss in 16 bouts. In the first round both fighters came out cautious feeling each other out. Kojo was cagey and crafty sometimes dangerous leading with his head, but Allen got the better of the exchanges. In the second round Allen started pounding Kojo to the body and landing.  Allen ripped two hard body shots that landed clean to Kojo’s ribs dropping him instantly. Kojo was unable to meet the 10 count ending the bout 51 seconds into round 2.

Allen remains undefeated and is looking to have a breakout year after an injury and opponent issues had him sidelined in 2014.  This win should put Allen in the top 10 ranking at super middleweight in the various “alphabet” organizations.  ” We look to get Allen right back in the ring in the next  month or two so he can get a few more rounds under his belt. After that we will be looking for a bigger fight against any one of the champions at 168 or top contenders”, stated Steven Heid manager to Allen. “This is our year, I felt great and was happy to be back in the square circle. I knew I hurt him as soon as I connected. I heard him wince and he went down immediately. This is the year I become world champion” stated Allen.

Pound4Pound Wear in tonight's boxing main event!

Tune in tonight at 10 pm est. to Fox Sports 1 or Fox Deportes to see live boxing action from Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego, C.A.  The main event features the always hard hitting Ed Paredes vs. slick Alan Sanchez.  Paredes comes into Sanchez’s backyard for a 10 round scheduled main event.  Paredes has an impressive record of 35-4-1 with 23 big wins coming by way of knockout.  In Paredes 40 fights he has only been stopped once inside the distance dating all the way back to Sept. 2007.  Sanchez also enters the ring with an  impressive record of 14-3-1 with 8 wins coming by way of knockout.  In Sanchez’s 18 fights he has never once touched the canvas.  On paper this looks to be a very intriguing fight between two guys that both have iron chins and are very well conditioned.  This fight should play out with the taller  6 ‘ 1″  Sanchez looking stay on the outside and box, controlling the fight with his jab against the shorter 5″ 10 ” Paredes.  On the other hand, Paredes will certainly be looking to make Sanchez his 24th knock out victim.  Paredes is a strong fighter with a huge right hand that can end the fight at anytime.  This is going to be a very fan friendly fight in which you will see the bull vs the matador scenario being played out.  Can Sanchez stay on the outside and stick his game plan for 10 full rounds, or will the man they call the Lion press the action and come up with the big knockout? Tune in tonight to find out and let us know your thoughts and predictions in the comment section below.

Pound4Pound Wear has sponsored Ed Paredes for this fight. Paredes will be entering the ring sporting the  pound4pound logo.  Paredes will be wearing a t-shirt and hat from the new pound4pound clothing  line which launched just two weeks ago.  Paredes t-shirt and hat along with many other items, styles, colors and accessories can be purchased at www.pound4poundwear.com.

Pound4Pound vs. Pound4Pound ?

The sports world is licking their chops to see the best vs. the best, there can only be one number one!  If I stop right there and don’t continue another sentence even the casual  sports fan will know who I am referring to. Yes, you guessed Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs Manny “Pacman” Pacquaio.  Money  is currently 47-0 (26 Ko’s) while Pac is 57-5  (38 Ko’s). Pacman has reeled off three straight wins since his devastating KO loss to Juan Manuel Marques against top contenders Rios, Bradley (previous loss SD) and Algeri. Floyd on the other hand has an unblemished record.  Many believe the only competitive fight of his career was his first bout with the hard hitting Marcos Maidana. In their rematch Floyd dominated the fight winning an easy 12 round unamimous decision.

So what now? Social media and the internet has been exploding for years hoping for this fight.  In the past both teams have had disagreements in regards to Olympic style drug testing and purse splits. However, the fight seems more ripe than ever. There are reports that a group out of the United Arab Emirates has offered a guaranteed purse totaling more than 200 million dollars.  Pacman has been calling Floyd out for years, but since his upset loss to Marquez, Floyd down plays the big fight and constantly mocks Manny.

If Floyd decides to fight Manny next he will certainly make the most amount of money any boxer or athlete has ever made for a single event. Floyd’s career earnings have been reported to exceed 420 million dollar making him the highest paid athlete in sports.  “This is a fight that needs to happen, if Floyd does not accept the fight he will be labeled as a fighter that refused to fight the best. He needs this fight for his legacy.” stated, boxing manager Steven Heid.

Sources have told me this fight is in negotiation and will most likely happen in May on Showtime. If this is true, this will go down as a historic event that can and will be compared to fights such as The Ali vs Frazier, “Rumble In The Jungle.”  At a time when boxing is struggling and losing viewers to other sporting events such as MMA, if this fight should happen it will certainly give the sport a much needed shot in the arm.

Terrence Crawford continues to shine!

Undefeated WBO lightweight champion Terrence Crawford 25-0 (17k Ko’s)  defended his belt a few moments ago with a 12 round boxing clinic against the always very tough and durable Ray Beltran. Beltran who is Manny Pacquaio’s main sparring partner came into the fight 29-6  (17 Ko’s), but certainly earned his shot at the title after many believed he was robbed last year when he went to the U.K. to fight Ricky Burns. Beltran was handed a draw in a fight most every boxing fan believe he won hands down. In that contest he battered Burns from pillar to post even breaking his jaw in the second round and dropping him hard in the eighth

In March of 2014 Terrence Crawford made the trip over the pond to the United Kingdom and handed Burns his third career loss by way of unanimous decision, in the meantime taking his strap back home to Omaha, Nebraska. Most sport fans these days know Omaha from Peyton Manning constantly yelling it at the line of scrimmage. However, there is certainly a new face to be associated with Omaha and his name is Terrence Crawford.  Century Link Stadium was packed with 11,000+ screaming fans with one special fan in attendance Mr. Omaha himself, Warren Buffet. However, Mr. Buffet who is a very knowledgeable fan of sport said, “Terrence is the new face of Omaha!”

Crawford dominated from the first round and swept all there scorecards 119-109,120-108, 119-109. Beltran came to fight and had his moments, but Crawford was just to much to handle.  Crawford dominated the fight with a sledge hammer like jab and switched to southpaw in round two confusing and frustrating Beltran. Beltran landed a few solid hard chopping punches in several rounds, but Crawford shook them off with his iron chin and came right back every time with dazzling shots that hurt Beltran.

Crawford with less than 100 amateur fights was a stand out amateur boxer beating current world champions Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia.  The hardcore boxing fans are buzzing about Crawford and already throwing his name around in the pound4pound list. Once the mainstream fan catches on, you will certainly see some big fights and this kid has the tools to make history.
