Thoroughbred's pound4pound king!

So which horse is really the pound4pound greatest thoroughbred of all time?

We have compiled a list of horses which are no doubt the greatest horses of all time. However, only 1 can be the pound4pound king! American Pharoah Secretariat, Man O’ War, Seabiscuit, Phar Lap, Black Caviar, Ruffian, Frankel, Zenyatta, Citation, Seattle Slew.

American Pharoah went wire to wire in the Belmont Stakes making him the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years. Not since Affirmed crossed the wire in 1978 had this been done. He was a 2 time grade 1 winner of the Del Mar Furturity. Triple digit beyers in his 7 stake starts which were all wins. American Phorah estimated value in this day and age of racing is estimated to be at 50 million dollars. A sure pound4pound great!

Secretariat is the fastest horse on dirt from 1 3/16 to 1 5/8 miles in history. He won all 16 races by a landslide, never even having a photo finish. Most call Secretariat the Pound4Pound greatest horse of all time.

Man O’ War, Also known as “Big Red” Only career loss came when the starter opened the gates before the horse was in position. In 2006, Big Red was voted the greatest horse to ever live. Pound4Pound has been used in the same sentence as “Big Red”

Seabiscuit is the most undersized horse and was often asked to race carrying weight. That being said, he beat War Admiral by 4 lengths. A huge fan favorite and even had a movie produced his name. Most know the name but those who were lucky enough to see him race call him a Pound4Pound great.

Phar Lap Won 32 of 35 races including The Melbourne Cup which is Australia’s biggest race. Won 2 cox plates and holds a 14 race winning streak. Sadly, this horse was poisoned by American mobsters. This pound4pound contender unfortunately never had the chance to show the world how great he really was.

Black Caviar is known as the fastest sprinter ever. Black Caviar was never beaten and had tremendous cruising speed. A true master at 6 furlongs. For sure pound4pound great at a short distance.

Ruffian was certainly a pound4pound contender until she snapped her ankle at the starting gate after banging her left shoulder. After 8 hours of trying to save her life she was put to rest. Her final resting place is at Belmont Park in the infield with her nose pointed at the finish line.

Frankel was known as the sure shot at the track if there is ever is such a thing. He was unbeaten in 11 races and won most going away. His specialty was 7-8 furlongs and his split times were even faster than Secretariat. A sure poundpound contender.

Zenyatta won every race except for one. She won the Breeders Cup Classic at the ripe age of 5 against the boys! Pound4Pound greatest? Some say she is.

Citation was 27 for 29 as a 3 year old. Won the Jersey Stakes by 11 lengths in the midst of the Triple Crown. Easily blew away the field in the Pimlico Stake. In 1948 he won the Triple Crown. Surely is on the pound4pound list, maybe even #1!

Seattle Slew became the 10th Triple Crown winner and the 1st undefeated. Came back from a very serious injury to defeat Affirmed. Pound4Pound contender for certain!

So folks, there you have it! Since there can only be 1, #1 we at Pound4PoundWear are going to go with Secretariat! We would like to here your thoughts and comments in the below section.
